Teen
Adventure Programs
Leader in Training (L.I.T.)
This program is designed for
teens 15-16 yrs old. The LIT program fosters and develops team building,
leadership skills, problem solving skills and camping skills through group
work experiences in adventure activities. Teens participate in daily
discussion workshops, team building adventures on our teams course, high
ropes course, and climbing tower. Out of camp adventures are also parts
of the LIT program with trips such as horseback riding, hiking and biking.
Through these activities, we challenge teens to properly balance work and
play, to accept construction criticism and to be accountable for their
actions. The LIT program is a stepping-stone for campers who may be
interested in transitioning into future camp leaders, but still enjoy the
magic of being a camper. |

Counselor in
Training (C.I.T.)
If you are interested in
being a camp counselor someday, this is an opportunity you don't want to
miss! Counselor in Training (CIT) is a program for teens desiring
future leadership roles as summer camp counselors at YMCA Camp Duncan.
The CIT Program is an advanced program for those 16-17 years old who
have attended Camp Duncan or another camp at least one summer.
The CIT Program has many advanced components. CITs
learn much of the same material covered during our summer seasonal staff
training. The CIT program is a great opportunity for exceptional
campers to develop their leadership skills. We provide hands-on learning
allowing teens to slowly work into responsible roles leading children.
We assist them in developing their communication and organizational
skills.
During the second week of this 2 week program, CIT’s
“shadow" a senior counselor, live in a cabin with younger campers and
will be expected to assist counselors in program activities, cabin life,
and the day to day jobs of working in a summer camp.
Our goal is to provide our CITs with positive
experiences which will enhance their personal growth and build
self-esteem.
