YMCA Camp Duncan Day Camp...
A Summer Adventure That Lasts a Lifetime!
     SUMMER 2008

At Camp Duncan, we are committed to helping children achieve new levels of individual success.  We utilize a grouping system that will maximize each child’s potential to succeed.  Each group of ten - twelve campers is supervised by a trained staff member and each group will be part of a larger grade-level unit.  All units will participate in the exciting activities camp has to offer.  Grouping by grade provides campers with opportunities focused on developmental stages, allowing each child to try new adventures progressively as they learn and grow.

Explorers: (Entering Grades K - 1) The First Traditional Camping Experience!
Campers participate in a variety of activities and programs.  Explorers discover camp through arts & crafts, nature projects, sports and games, swim lessons, recreational swimming, beach play, and much more.  The Explorer program is designed to meet the unique social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of a young camper.

Adventurers (4 year olds)

Joining the ranks in the summer of 2007 was be our Adventurers.  These campers will have the option of attending camp ½ days (8:00-1:00pm) or full days, as well as 3 day or 5 day options.  They will begin to experience the magic of camp as they enjoy activities including story time, sand play, a visit to the pool 3 days a week, playground, arts and crafts, songs and games, and much more.  Campers participating in full day programs will have a daily rest hour after lunch.  All children need to be toilet trained and are required to leave a full change of clothes at camp during their session(s).  They may choose to leave a small blanket or stuffed animal for rest hour as well.

Adventurers are able to take advantage of the extended care available; those who are participating in half day programs need to be picked up by 1:00pm .

Voyagers: (Entering Grades 2 - 3)  The Tradition Continues!
Voyagers are off to discover new areas of camp as they have the opportunity to try out the adventure program and boating program for the first time.  Arts and Crafts, sports and games, swim lessons and recreational swimming are just part of the continuing tradition.  Campers are challenged to learn new skills and try new activities.

Trailblazers: (Entering Grades 4 - 5)  Onward!
Adventure, boating, and outdoor education experiences enhance the specialty Trailblazer program.  Swim lessons, recreational swimming, sports and games, arts and crafts, songs, skits and more fill the days.  Campers have an opportunity to develop their individuality while learning new skills as they choose special interest activities.

Navigators: (Entering Grades 6 - 8)  Leading the way!
Navigators lead the camp by example as they continue to practice and model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.  Throughout the program, campers participate in a wide variety of camp activities including challenge courses, team sports, camp service projects, boating, discussions groups, team building, swim lessons and recreational swimming.
